Today I met with Tewkesbury Friends of the Earth to take water samples from the River Avon at the Abbey Mill, Tewkesbury.
The samples I retrieved from the river were consistent with the findings they have been recording since June 2023: Nitrates comfortably within the bounds of 'Very High Pollution' and Phosphates of 'High Pollution'. Both pollutants are dangerous to humans and wildlife at such levels.
It is not good enough, particularly in a slow-moving river such as the Avon. I will put these figures to Severn Trent.
