Launch of Safer Streets in Gloucestershire

This week a new campaign was launched to keep our streets safer this summer.
The Safer Streets campaign for Gloucestershire is a joint initiative for all the emergency services including Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue, the Police and Ambulance Service, along with local charities.
Cllr Paul Hodgkinson attended on behalf of the Cotswold Safety Partnership and Gloucestershire County Councl and he echoed the commitment we all share to making our communities safer: “This summer, I’m looking forward to us working together as a county to keep our town centres safe.
“This operation has real potential to highlight the strong partnership working already taking place to prevent crime and tackle anti-social behaviour. Even in times of limited resources, this visible show of unity helps build public trust and confidence.
"It demonstrates that we’re listening to residents’ concerns and working collectively towards safer communities.”
Operation Shield aligns closely with the Police and Crime Prevention Plan and builds on the work of Safer Gloucestershire. While great progress has been made, the data shows there is more to do — and that partnership is key.
